The SOS Marine dan buoy uses familiar technology to replace the man overboard pole. Its principle of operation is similar to an inflatable life jacket. The dan buoy combines pieces in one self–contained unit ready to Just Throw! to an MOB. This dan buoy is specialized for use as an MOB (Man overboard) marker buoy. It is also suitable for use as a general use marker buoy. For example, the Port of Los Angeles / Long Beach uses this dan buoy to immediately mark underwater hazards pending placement of more formal buoyage or hazard removal.

The dan buoy self–inflates on submersion. It has a backup oral inflator, SOLAS strobe, SOLAS light–reflective tape, an eight foot streamer at top, and a very large drogue to retard drift. At its base, an extra grommet can be used to secure it to an anchor for temporary buoy use, to mark dive site or underwater object. Built to ISO 12402 life jacket quality standard where applicable. End–user–rechargeable and reusable.
